Ahead of his solo debut in the Gulf region, British street artist Ben Eine has completed a 40m outdoor mural on the walls of the British Embassy in Abu Dhabi. Having previously rubbed shoulders with David Cameron and Barack Obama, Eine can now add Sheikh Nahyan to his illustrious list!

Eine brought his unique typographic style to the UAE to create his latest mural which reads: "Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder"; a comment on the juxtaposition of the traditional and the modern that encapsulates the dynamics of this unique region.

This initiative signals yet another big step forward for the UAE art scene, supported by his Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nayham, who picked up a spray can himself to tag his name on the outer wall of the embassy.

“This is the second-oldest building in Abu Dhabi. I couldn’t think of a better place to have this piece of art as it represents the strong relationship between the UK and the UAE on an official and personal level. I think it will inspire the next generation of artists to express themselves.” Sheikh Nahyan.

In addition to spending four days painting the primary phrase, Eine also conducted a two-day workshop with the graphic design class from Zayed University’s female campus, during which they helped him paint the words ‘Abu Dhabi’ on a section of the wall next to the mural.

Ahead of Art Dubai 2015, Eine’s solo show ‘Hand in Hand’ opens today (Monday 16th March) at Dubai gallery, ARTSPACE.
